Agent 47 Hits the Tabletop: Hitman Board Game Launches Campaign
Stealth, strategy, and assassinations are coming to Gamefound with Hitman: The Board Game.
Get ready, Agent 47 fans. And board game fanatics. Hitman: The Board Game just launched its campaign on Gamefound, aiming to bring all that familiar stealth and strategy to your kitchen table. Up to four players can compete here, each trying to be the first to take down a target.
Mood Publishing is behind this one. They're pretty good at translating video games to cardboard, having already done Deep Rock Galactic and Valheim. Here, players will navigate maps, grab loot, dodge guards, and don disguises. All the usual Hitman stuff, really.
How it Plays
You'll draw event cards, for starters. These can shake things up, maybe moving targets or respawning some valuable loot. Then it's your turn to act: move, change disguises, or play a one-time Agent card. Simple enough.
Here's the kicker: actions are either legal or illegal. Legal moves? No problem. But illegal ones, like trespassing or, you know, stashing a body? Those demand careful timing. Otherwise, you're gonna attract guard attention.
Combat is straightforward. Just compare attack values. Boost your attack by finding better weapons or using those Agent cards. And other players? You can work with them, or against them. Adds a nice layer of depth to your planning, doesn't it?
A Taste of Gameplay
The preview showed off two contracts and one location. The final game? Eight targets, four locations. Each mission throws up unique challenges. Maybe you're collecting secret documents to weaken a target. Or setting traps to get around some seriously tough bodyguards.
The Eurogame Connection
Germany, particularly, has been a hotbed for board games, both making and playing them. Eurogames, with their deep strategy, are huge over there. Hitman: The Board Game seems to fit right into that trend, offering a complex, engaging experience. A good sign, perhaps, for its reception.
Why You Should Care
If you're into the Hitman series, this is a fresh way to jump back in. It's a social game, blending that classic Hitman stealth with some serious strategic thinking. Board game enthusiast? Hitman fan? Yeah, you'll want to keep an eye on this one.
What We Don't Know Yet
Still pretty early days on the final components and rules. And the release date? Who knows. The big question, though: will the final version really capture the essence of the video games? We'll see.
The Bigger Picture
This isn't just another board game. It's another sign that video games are continually jumping to the tabletop. It offers fans a whole new medium to enjoy their favorite franchises. Pretty cool, actually, seeing the Hitman experience expand beyond just a screen.
